                    Students love learning about Asia
                   Teachers love teaching about Asia

The Asia Education Teachers’ Association (AETA) is run by teachers for teachers interested in promoting the inclusion of an Asian perspective in teaching.  It is a voluntary, not for profit organization that supports teachers in each sector K-12.

The Association supports teachers by

1. Publishing a teaching resource (in journal form) four times per year.  This resource is full of practical ideas and activities, examples of programmed units of work and background information for teachers.  Secondary and primary areas are targeted in each quarterly issue.  The focus of each journal varies and examples include Environments, Asian Communities in Australia, Human Rights and Global Connections.  English, Creative Arts and HSIE/SOSE are the focus areas of learning addressed.
2.Organizing conferences at both country and city venues.  The Nan Tien Temple at Wollongong and the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra are popular locations.
3.Facilitating overseas trips to Cambodia, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, Borneo and China.
4.Providing a variety of professional learning opportunities including site and community visits and information sessions on different religions
5.Working collaboratively with other Professional Teacher Associations to organize events
